‘Les Mis’ Featurette – “Hugh Jackman is Jean Valjean”
The latest Les Misérables featurette tells us what we already know: Hugh Jackman is Jean Valjean. In it, he talks about the daunting nature of tackling the role in such an epic-sized movie-musical. There are clips of “Valjean’s Soliloquy” throughout, emphasizing the hard work Hugh put into playing a character. Near the end, compliments from cast and crew only help to prove that Hugh was the right man for the job — especially when Cameron Mackintosh specifically comments on Hugh’s spirituality, which was necessary to have in any actor portraying Jean Valjean.

Oh wow…compliments from Colm Wilkinson himself (the very first English language Jean Valjean in London & on Broadway) – it can’t get better than that!! Also, I love how Hugh actually fully sings ’24601′, unlike many stage Valjeans, who either scream it, or make it sound like a countdown.
