Feb 4, 2013
Earlier today (February 4th), Hugh Jackman joined fellow 2013 Oscar nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon. The invite-only event is a prestigious affair, shining the spotlight on the year’s best actors, directors, writers, producers, and others who provide services to film. At the luncheon, everyone even gathers together for a class picture-esque shot surrounding an enormous Oscar statuette — this year, Hugh was positioned right next to him! (Let’s hope that’s a good omen.)
Check out some details from the reception along with a bunch of videos below (click MORE):
“We need your help,” Zadan said. “Honestly, we need your help to keep the pacing of the show energized. Please get to the stage quickly. You will have 45 seconds to speak. That begins the moment you hit the microphone.” Zadan also asked that nominees prepare. “You’re talking to over a billion people in over 225 countries,” he said.
After the second course (pistachio-crusted sea bass with veggies!), each nominee in attendance was called one-by-one (and and in no particular order) to riser at the front of the ballroom.
Lincoln producer and new Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy was the first to be called. Sally Field laughed with a man next to her that she couldn’t see over the head of the man in front of her. [Hugh] Jackman extended a hand to [Jessica] Chastain as she carefully stepped onto the riser.
Joaquin Phoenix let out a little “boo” as his name was called.
